Emergency Kit Secrets.
Although we like to use less alarming names than “emergency kit” (like “Mary Poppins bag,” “bag of tricks,” or the less flashy “event kit”), we definitely arrive prepared to weddings with the knick-knacks required to get the job done. Chances are very good that we have what you need. And what your Best Woman needs. And what your cousin needs. Sometimes we even have what your vendors need!
Our full kit is large — it’s about the size of a carry-on suitcase and has wheels attached for portability. It comes along to weddings that require detailed production, like erecting a tent for example. For smaller weddings, especially in restaurants, we bring the mini version that includes fewer types of tape (yes, we bring more than one type of tape in our full kit). Of course it’s important for everyone to arrive prepared with everything they need to make it happen, but sometimes you could use an extra extension cord. When your wedding is in a field, with no cell service, thirty minutes from the nearest store…you’ll be glad to know that we have the supplies to keep your escort cards from blowing away.
Time and time again, our most requested items are as follows, in no particular order:
Bobby pins
Safety pins/a sewing kit
Rolls of black gaff tape (like masking tape, but easily removable without leaving any residue), which we sometimes wear like bracelets during setup
Advil/pain reliever
Earplugs
Clear Gorilla Glue
Scissors
Mini packages of tissues
Stick lighters
Tape
Pens. So many pens.
Items we’ve used once or twice, but would never go without:
Eyelash glue
Fashion tape
Eye drops
Spare batteries
Phone chargers
Healthy-ish candy, for well-behaved members of the wedding party (of all ages).
With the help of our kit, we’ve been able to:
Sew an appliqué back onto a bridesmaid’s dress before the ceremony
Cover a white extension cord running across the front of a black stage
Glue a display frame back together after it broke in transit
Replace dead batteries in a sign meant to light up
Light 100+ candles in 20 minutes
do much more that we cannot tell you!
Our emergency kit is our not-so-secret weapon.
