Venue Files: The VanLandingham Estate's Residential Style for Sophisticated Weddings
The popularity of the at-home wedding makes perfect sense to us, as destination wedding planners who’ve seen all sorts of venues. You get the coziness-factor and familiarity, plus the blank canvas of an open lawn or tent to create something uniquely you. What happens, though, when you’re wanting the aesthetic but don’t have a location that makes sense? Maybe you grew up in a more metropolitan area, or your guest count is a little too large for your family’s property, or you want to invite your guests to experience the new city that you as a couple call home? We’re constantly scouting venues along the east coast, and it’s especially exciting to find one like The VanLandingham Estate: a large home-turned-venue in the middle of a city.
Like so many homes in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood, The VanLandingham Estate is an American craftsman house built in the early 1900s. The owners (Best Impressions Caterers) recently renovated both the interior and exterior of the property, while both preserving and highlighting dozens of original details.
The updates are a total dream: multiple green rooms for couples and vendor teams, several location options for wedding events, space to accommodate up to 300+ guests, and a patio specifically-engineered for tents. The VanLandingham Estate is one of Charlotte’s best-kept secrets, and a venue we’ve got our eyes on.
